Description

Mass balance observations at seasonal resolution are performed since 1914 on Claridenfirn, Glarus Alps. The series is known for the worldwide longest uninterrupted measurements of glacier mass balance. The present report aims at providing a detailed description of the approaches taken when evaluating the two point mass balance measurements on Claridenfirn to obtain a 103-year series of glacier-wide mass balance consistent with data on geodetic ice volume change.
